Meet Dr. Olivia Siwoski
NICE TO MEET YOU
Hello, I am Dr. Olivia Siwoski. I am an Internal Medicine Physician who has worked in both the clinic and hospital settings. I have seen first-hand the shortcomings of our medical system. I am increasingly disappointed with the state of medicine today. Traditional medical practice is reactive. We focus on treating individual diseases and ailments. We take a reductionist approach to the human body and see it as a sum of its ailments, as opposed to seeing it as one balanced organism. The human body is not that. Each human body is a very complex organism with a multitude of chemical and biological processes continuously working in harmony. It is when we have imbalance that we become ill and are unable to function at our best. Medicine today has become so lost in the minutia and details that we no longer see the bigger picture. Our goal should be to restore and maintain our patient’s health, not just put a “band-aide” over their wounds and send them on their way. This cannot be done by doctors alone. This in large part relies on patient efforts to help themselves with physicians serving to educate and motivate patients to achieve their maximum “healthspan” (the number of years they life healthfully).
My goal here is for this site to serve as a stepping stone to a better medical practice and educate you on what you can do to live a long, healthy, prosperous life in an increasing sick world. I hope to get back to truly helping people get and stay better as I originally believed I would do when I first started medical school. As a medical doctor I believe in the value medications have in treating disease, however, I also strongly believe many chronic diseases could be prevented and treated by changing what we put into our mouths, how we care for our bodies, and how we view and treat our world. Pharmaceuticals have their place in medicine just as non-pharmaceutical interventions do. I hope to help bring some clarity to this and to help you to understand how you can better help yourself to live a healthier and more fulfilled life.

Your food should look as close to what it looked like when it came out of the ground. Your body is not made to run on ultra-processed food product.
Food should “nourish” your body, brain, or soul. If it doesn’t nourish one of those parts, you don’t need to eat it.
Good mental health is essential. Mental health affects every aspect of our lives, including out physical ailments.
You are in control. You are not a victim of the world. Victimization of one’s self hinders progress in every aspect of your life.
